Construction and Energy students stepped outside of their comfort zone by completing the high ropes course at the TreeRunner Adventure Park in West Bloomfield. Instructors Jeff Bowman and Bill Ray wanted to get their students out of the classroom and into an environment that simulates what it’s like to build and maintain structures at heights, in a way that mirrors industry.
Students were required to wear harnesses as their Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), utilize climbing gear, and practice important safety standards. Teamwork was emphasized, with the instructors helping students, and students helping the instructors and fellow classmates.
Participants described the trip as a chance to understand alternative job opportunities that directly relate to their field of study.
