Michigan Restaurant Association Trade Show 2019

   Culinary instructors Chef Frank Costanzo and Chef Selene Toliver, along with instructional technicians Dalia Hempel and Chef Kryzia Garza, recently took more than 20 students to the annual Michigan Restaurant Association (MRA) trade show held at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, where the students were able to display their skills by participating in demonstrations. Each student also had the unique opportunity to work side-by-side with, and learn from, industry partners, mentors and potential employers.

The MRA Foundation, or ProStart, supports the curriculum used at OSTC-SE and directly correlates to the instruction students receive at our campus. Students utilized what they had learned and experienced in the classroom and translated that into skills to impress restaurant local owners and managers.

Students from the Energy, Construction, Machining, Welding, and Engineering, Robotics and Mechatronics programs had the opportunity to participate in unique DTE demonstration. OSTC-SE hosted the event, which was geared toward bringing attention to job openings and educational opportunities within the energy field.
