Recipients, community honored at annual Scholarships for Success Recognition Breakfast
On March 13, 2019, 29 Career Technical Education (CTE) students from across Oakland County were awarded funds from Oakland Schools’ prestigious Scholarships for Success program at its annual Recognition Breakfast.
Scholarships for Success is an annual event organized by the Oakland Schools Education Foundation (OSEF) with the goal of helping to provide CTE students who have attended one of Oakland Schools’ four Technical Campuses with financial assistance to attend college, trade school or an apprenticeship program.
“The 29 students recognized today aren’t here by accident. They are here because they make decision after decision to work hard to achieve their dreams and it is our pleasure to provide them with a scholarship to help them continue their education,” said Oakland Schools’ Superintendent Dr. Wanda Cook-Robinson. “These students are strong examples of the opportunities attending an OSTC campus can provide.”
The scholarship money is garnered from generous donations made by community members at the organization’s annual Scholarships for Success Gala Dinner. The dinner will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 18 at Tam O’Shanter Country Club, 5051 Orchard Lake Road, West Bloomfield Township, MI., 48323. The speaker will be Steve Hill, vice president of U.S. Sales and Service for General Motors. Visit the Education Foundation’s website to either sponsor the dinner or attend.
Since its inception in 1991, OSEF has awarded 323 scholarships totaling over $451,000 to Oakland County students.
