OSTC-NE student “a standout among the standouts”

Senior accepted into 2021 US Presidential Scholars Program

Mary Holt, a senior and second-year computer networking student at Oakland Schools Technical Campus – Northeast (OSTC-NE) is a candidate for the 2021 US Presidential Scholars Program.

The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program recognizes and honors the nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors. Holt is one of five students chosen from the entire state to continue in this national selection process.

Keith Teller, computer networking instructor at OSTC-NE, nominated Holt for the recognition.

“The first thing I would say about Mary is that every year I have standout students, and then there are standouts among the standouts. Mary is one of those,” said Teller. “She spent last year learning programming and now has turned her attention to networking infrastructure to round out her IT capabilities. She is always willing to jump in and help out with any project I ask her to do, even outside of the standard curriculum items.”

In the past four years, OSTC-NE has had three students chosen as candidates for this prestigious program.
