OSTC-SW Health Science class donates supplies to local healthcare workers/senior living residents

Fifty-seven students in the Health Science class at Oakland Schools Technical Campus-Southwest (OSTC-SW) recently collected a variety of health products for the 145 senior residents and 40 staffers at Abbey Park at Mill River, a retirement and assisted living facility in Lyon Township.

Donated items included granola bars, candy, lotion, hand sanitizer, notepads, pens, tea bags, Chapstick and snacks. All the items were then sorted and put into individual bags with a special personalized card.

“We feel very blessed to be chosen for such a thoughtful project,” said Donna McAninch, activities director at Abbey Park. “Our community says ‘thank you’ to the Health Science class at Oakland Schools Technical Southwest Campus.”

“This was a totally student-led and directed project that created a lot of enthusiasm in the classroom, added Laura Naudi, OSTC-SW Health Sciences instructor. “It is certainly a testament as to why they have chosen healthcare as their future career.”
