Health Sciences Students Volunteer at Breast Cancer Awareness Walk

Fifteen current and former Health Sciences students from Oakland Schools Technical Campus–Northeast joined instructor Jenna Doyle and IT staff member Tonya Monte to support a Breast Cancer Awareness event at Rochester Municipal Park on Oct. 18.

Students worked alongside community volunteers to distribute snacks and refreshments, cheer on walkers, and assist event organizers in raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research.

“We worked as volunteers, organizing snacks and drinks for the walkers, cheering on walkers and helping anywhere we could,” Doyle said.

The annual community event draws hundreds of participants and provides experiential learning opportunities for students exploring healthcare careers and public service.
