Holiday Buffet Draws Community to OSTC-Northeast

Oakland Schools Technical Campus–Northeast welcomed community members to its annual Holiday Buffet on Dec. 9 and Dec. 11, offering a festive, student-run dining experience that highlighted culinary talent and hospitality skills.

Despite a weather-related cancellation on Dec. 10, the event reached capacity on both remaining days, serving more than 120 community visitors in the Northeast Campus banquet room. Culinary Arts students planned the menu, prepared the dishes, and provided full food service, giving them real-world experience in event execution and customer service.

The Holiday Buffet is a longstanding tradition at OSTC-NE. It serves as a capstone-style learning opportunity, allowing students to apply classroom instruction in menu planning, food safety, teamwork, and professional presentation.

Community members praised the quality of the food and the professionalism of the student servers, reinforcing the program’s emphasis on hands-on learning and career readiness in the culinary and hospitality fields.
