Nachos, Coneys and Counselors, Oh My!

Oakland Schools Technical Campus Northeast welcomed students back with two campuswide celebrations: Nacho Thursday on Sept. 17 and Coney Thursday on Sept. 24.

During each event, classes rotated through a food bar where Culinary Arts students prepared the food and Student Services team members served it. The entire campus participated.

In addition to providing a fun break from rigorous classwork, the events introduced students to the team members who support academic progress, social-emotional needs, scheduling, work-based learning, and services for special populations.

“What I like about it is it’s a moment of connection and community between students and staff,” said Nicolle Tsertos, student support specialist.

The two events offered students and staff members an opportunity to enjoy food, strengthen relationships, and build a shared sense of community at OSTC Northeast.
