Northeast Student Headed to National Leadership Conference for BPA

Students from Oakland Schools Technical Campus Northeast earned top honors at the Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference held March 12-15 in Grand Rapids, showcasing their skills in web design, digital communication, and teamwork.

Alyssa Acker of Lake Orion High School qualified for the BPA National Leadership Conference, scheduled for May 6-12 in Nashville, Tennessee, after earning third place in Fundamentals of Web Design. She also placed eighth as an alternate in the open event for Digital Communication and Design Concepts.

In team competition, Nick McKinnon of Waterford Kettering High School, Asia Allen of Auburn Hills Christian, and Cannon Binder of Auburn Hills Christian placed seventh as alternates in the Website Design Team event. The competition challenged students to collaborate under time constraints to plan, design, and present a professional-quality website aligned to client and industry expectations.

The state conference gave students an opportunity to apply classroom learning in competitive, career-focused events while strengthening leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. OSTC Northeast recognized all participating students for their hard work and extended special congratulations to Acker as she prepares to represent both the campus and Michigan at the national level.
