Oakland Schools Technical Campus Northeast recognized 170 students during its National Technical Honor Society induction ceremony held April 23 at Oakland Schools.

The ceremony celebrated students for achievement, leadership and commitment to Career and Technical Education pathways. Two students also received $1,000 scholarships from the National Technical Honor Society in memory of founder Jon H. Poteat.

Emma Castonia, a Culinary Arts student from Oxford High School, and Macey Sewick, a Cosmetology student from Lake Orion High School, earned the scholarship awards.

Founded in 1984, the National Technical Honor Society recognizes students for excellence in technical education while supporting workforce development and career readiness. The organization’s colors — purple, white and silver — represent achievement, truth and value, while the society’s seven characteristics include skill, honesty, service, responsibility, scholarship, citizenship and leadership.

The evening concluded with the induction of retired OSTC-NE staff member Denise Clark as an honorary member of the organization.

Students, families, instructors, deans, and Oakland Schools administrators attended the event.
