Oakland Schools Technical Campus Northeast Welding and Machining students earned multiple honors during the Annual State Secondary Welding Competition held May 8 at Ferris State University.
Austin Butcher of Lake Orion High School and Kevin Heydel of Clawson High School earned Top Dog honors in Inspection, while Giovanni ZaniRicci of Oxford High School earned Top Dog honors in G and M Code Programming.
Kyler O’Melia of Clarkston High School also earned honorable mention recognition in Shielded Metal Arc Welding.
Students receiving Top Dog honors were awarded fully stocked toolboxes and scholarships as part of the statewide competition.
The event brought together top secondary welding and machining students from across Michigan to compete in industry-focused technical skill events.
