Oakland Schools Technical Campus Northeast recognized student achievement and career readiness during its annual end-of-year awards ceremony held April 28 at Oakland Schools.

Anaya Potts, a Culinary Arts student from Rochester High School, and Kevin Heydel, a Machining student from Clawson High School, were named Outstanding CTE Students for excellence in work-based learning experiences. Potts completed work-based learning with The Silver Shamrocks catering company, while Heydel trained with manufacturer Triple Inc.

“Anaya is, as always, helpful, kind, and enthusiastic. She’s the best, and we are so lucky to have her,” said Patti Browning of The Silver Shamrocks.

Kevin Heydel’s supervisor, Matthew Stapels of Triple Inc., described him as “conscientious and always willing to learn new things” and “an inquisitive, quick-learning employee.”

During the ceremony, 214 students received All “A” certificates for earning straight A grades since Sept. 2, 2025. Another 153 students earned Outstanding Attendance recognition for missing three or fewer school days during the academic year.

Ninety-two students earned the Dean’s Award plaque for achieving both academic honors and outstanding attendance, while 41 students received Program Honors trophies selected by instructors for classroom performance and leadership.

An additional 67 students were recognized for participation in work-based learning experiences and on-the-job training, and students enrolled in the Oakland Technical Early College program were also honored during the event.

Students, families, instructors, deans, and Oakland Schools administrators attended the ceremony.
