Cosmetology Graduate Shines Bright

Jaidan Hornbuckle is a 2020 graduate of the Cosmetology program exclusive to OSTC-Northeast, afterward, she continued her education by earning her Cosmetology license in June 2021.

While attending OSTC-Northeast, she earned multiple dean's awards, was recognized for her many months of perfect attendance and was named the 2019 Student of the Year.

Jaidan is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree at Rochester University in business administration and is on target for a graduation date in 2024.

“The Cosmetology program provided me with an opportunity to pursue my passion and lifelong dream. The 1500-hour requirement taught me to keep fighting for the future I wanted,” said Jaidan. "The most important thing I learned while at OSTC-Northeast was admitting that I had done the best job I could, that I was still learning and that I could not expect to be perfect on the first try. Those were all huge mental battles."

Jaidan’s advice for incoming students is, "Attending OSTC is one of the most eye-opening opportunities you will ever experience. Learning a specialized trade or skill differs vastly from the traditional classroom setting. Take every opportunity presented to you because you never know how an experience will shape who you will become."

Jaidan also completed a business internship at fLipSpot Gymnastics and Cheer as the summer camp director in 2022. This experience, combined with her business courses at Rochester University, provides a focus on what makes an organization tick, with a special concentration on how to manage both people and operations.
