OSTC Students Put Yates' Lessons Into Practice with Donut Sale

OSTC Students Put Yates' Lessons Into Practice with Donut Sale

OSTC Northeast students in Entrepreneurship and Advanced Marketing turned classroom lessons into action this fall. After visiting Yates Cider Mill on Tuesday, Sept. 9, to study how donuts are marketed and sold, the students hosted their own sale on Thursday, Sept. 25, before and after classes.

The effort paid off, selling 171 donuts and generating $446 for the school’s DECA chapter, an international student organization focused on marketing, finance, management, and entrepreneurship.

Student Danny M., who helped manage sales and track statistics, said he learned how seller participation impacts results.

Instructor Elizabeth Diehl agreed, noting the difference in staffing. “You can sell way more donuts when you have more people working,” she said.
