OSTC Northwest Students Earn Print Excellence Awards from Graphic Media Alliance
Students from Oakland Schools Technical Campus Northwest (OSTC-NW) were recently honored with nine 2025 Print Excellence Awards from the Graphic Media Alliance (GMA), which recognizes outstanding printing and graphic design achievements.
Each year, GMA hosts the Print Excellence Awards competition to celebrate printers from Ohio, Michigan, and northern Kentucky who demonstrate excellence across 36 categories. This year's competition featured 619 exceptional entries, judged by industry experts Michael Klyn, retired from Peake Delancey Printers in Hyattsville, Maryland, and Jeff Ekstein of Willow Printing Group in Ontario. Given the high level of competition, judges meticulously evaluated each entry, often looking for the smallest imperfections to determine category winners.
OSTC students excelled in the contest, earning four Gold Awards, four Silver Awards and one Bronze Award:
Bronze Award
Charlotte Grzesiak – The Change of Trauma
Silver Awards
- Lily Banka – Quiet Town in the Snow
- Harmonie Loza – Her Royal Portrait
- Harmonie Loza – The Cave of a Hidden Being
- Tabitha Schibi – Reaching Through the Dark
Gold Awards
- Tabitha Schibi – Inks Demise
- Tabitha Schibi – Uprooted Poster
- Tabitha Schibi – Fleeting Life
- Harmonie Loza – Mountain Mosaic
All Gold Award winners will advance to the association-wide competition for Best of Category and Best of Show. The winners will be announced in August at the 2025 Grand Ceremony, sponsored by Millcraft.
The industry will come together in person to honor the winners in February and March at the annual Graphic Media Alliance Print Week Events. The Michigan Region Reception will occur Thursday, March 20, at the Atheneum Suite Hotel, where winning entries—including those from OSTC students—will be displayed.
Graphic Media Alliance serves nearly 300 companies and suppliers in the commercial printing industry, offering a variety of resources, including workforce development programs and industry advocacy. For more information about GMA and its impact on the printing community, visit www.graphicmedia.org.
