OSTC-NW Student Earns Bronze at SkillsUSA State Competition
Mark Edwards

Oakland Schools Technical Campus Northwest student Madison Flores earned a bronze medal in Graphic and Communication Design during the 2026 SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference held April 17-19 in Grand Rapids.

Flores competed against some of the top student designers from across Michigan, demonstrating creativity, technical skill and professionalism throughout the statewide competition. Students were challenged to apply real-world design principles, including concept development, visual communication and final presentations while meeting industry standards.

Flores’ ability to think critically, communicate visually and perform under pressure helped secure a third-place finish and statewide recognition in the competition.

The accomplishment highlights the strength of OSTC-NW’s Career and Technical Education programs and the hands-on experiences students receive in preparation for careers in the graphic arts and communications industries.

Alan Grayson serves as the Graphic and Communication Design instructor.
