Students from the Oakland Schools Technical Campus Northwest Engineering, Robotics and Mechatronics programs earned top-10 finishes in 13 of the 16 project categories entered during the 2026 MITES State Competition held May 6-9 at the Oakland Expo Center in Waterford.

Competition highlights included two first-place finishes, two second-place finishes and a strong second-place finish for a student-built go-kart project. Students also earned a ninth-place finish in the highly competitive wrought metal category along with several strong placements in machining events.

The results showcased student innovation, technical expertise and teamwork across engineering, robotics and manufacturing disciplines while highlighting the strength of OSTC-NW’s hands-on Career and Technical Education programs.
