Culinary ProStart State Competition

Culinary ProStart State Competition

On March 5 and 6, OSTC-Southeast Culinary Arts/Hospitality students participated in the two-day ProStart statewide competition at the Blue Water convention center in Port Huron. The group focused on the competitive nutrition event.

The challenge was to create a chicken sushi plate, where the target audience was kids. Judges included students at the elementary and middle school grade levels, as well as adult professional nutritionists. Students also enjoyed numerous networking opportunities with industry professionals and college representatives.

Alica Miranda spoke to her fellow classmates about the event stating, “Next year all students should get involved in ProStart. You meet many culinary professionals, and the scholarship opportunities are abundant.”
