Culinary Students Shine at Birmingham Schools' Breakfast Catering Event

On Dec. 3, 2024, OSTC Southeast Culinary Arts/Hospitality students demonstrated their skills in a real-world setting by catering a breakfast event for Birmingham Schools. The Work-Based Learning students developed the menu, sourced ingredients, prepared the food, and executed a seamless service for 40 guests.

Arriving on campus at 6:45 a.m., students Gracie, Kiera, Kai, and Kaitlynn declared it was "Go Time" as they loaded the vans and set off for the event. The menu featured made-to-order eggs, fresh pastries, seasonal fruit, and roasted potatoes. Thoughtful accommodations included gluten-free options such as crustless spinach quiche.

Guests were highly impressed, especially by the students' expert egg cookery, and shared numerous compliments. The students received rave reviews for their professionalism and culinary execution, leaving them eager for their next catering challenge.
