Diverse Perspectives Shine at Detroit's Multicultural Media Luncheon: Southeast Students Gain Valuable Insights

Student Support Specialist Eric Scott recently accompanied four enthusiastic students to the Multicultural Media Luncheon, a prominent diversity-themed event hosted at the Garden Theater in Detroit. This luncheon, held annually during the Detroit Auto Show, brings together industry leaders to celebrate diversity in the automotive world.

This year, the event featured Larry Miller, the Chairman of the Jordan brand at Nike, as the keynote speaker. His insights into marketing and branding resonated with the audience, shedding light on the importance of diversity in these fields.

What made this experience even more special was the active involvement of Southeast Students, who played vital roles as hosts throughout the event. This hands-on opportunity allowed them to apply the professional skills they've been honing at Southeast's campus while witnessing a real-world marketing event.

The Multicultural Media Luncheon, established in 2011 by Cheryl Parks Ajamu, Founder and CEO of The Ajamu Group, has become a cornerstone of the North American International Auto Show Press week. It's renowned for recognizing ethnic achievements in the automotive industry and highlighting the significance of diverse marketing strategies. With awards spanning various categories, including automotive design/engineering, multicultural marketing, community service, and more, it remains a prestigious event during the Detroit Auto Show Press week, dedicated to celebrating diversity and excellence in the industry. This year's event was undoubtedly a valuable experience for the students and a testament to the importance of diversity in marketing and branding.
