Impressive Performance at Michigan Food & Hospitality Show
On Tuesday, April 15, OSTC-SE Culinary Arts/Hospitality students showcased their talents at the Michigan Food & Hospitality Show. First-year students Rio Clemons and Sophia Monette joined returning student Ashton Ferris to prepare a handmade ravioli stuffed with herbed ricotta and egg yolk, served with asparagus, tomato concasse, bacon lardons, and sauce Parisienne.
Their live demonstration impressed both attendees and industry professionals. Students also networked with notable chefs, including Master Chef Brian Beland of Schoolcraft College, James Beard Award-winner Chef Jimmy Hill, and Bayview Yacht Club’s Chef Christopher Faulkner and Matt Prost, who invited students for a stage experience. The event provided insight into both culinary and alternative career paths, including food sales.
