Oakland Schools Technical Southeast Campus Advances Eight Students to Michigan BPA State Leadership Conference

Eight Oakland Schools Technical Southeast students have qualified to advance to the Michigan Business Professionals of America (BPA) State Leadership Conference after strong performances at the BPA Regional Leadership Conference held Jan. 9 at Macomb Community College.

Students competed in a range of business, technology, and computer science events against peers from across the region. Instructors Mr. Krompatic, Mr. Shaw and Ms. Spackman supported and accompanied students throughout the competition.

The following students qualified for the state conference:

  • Ethan Hanmer – Computer Security (1st place); Device Configuration & Troubleshooting (1st place)

  • Owen Church – Python Programming (1st place); SQL Database Fundamentals (1st place)

  • Kacper Tomczyk – Java Programming (1st place)

  • James Creveling – Device Configuration & Troubleshooting (3rd place); Linux Operating System Fundamentals (1st place)

  • Jesse Perreca – Device Configuration & Troubleshooting (2nd place); Server Administration Using Microsoft (1st place)

  • Tristan Alejandro Madarang – Computer Security (2nd place)

  • Sion Dawson – Java Programming (2nd place)

Additional students competed at the regional conference and earned alternate placements:

  • Tristan Alejandro Madarang – Ethics & Professionalism (7th place, alternate)

  • Florentino Vance – Extemporaneous Speech (8th place, alternate)

  • Konrad Huber – Graphic Design Promotion (9th place, alternate)

  • Alijah Williams, Zachary Huber, Beverly Johnson, Kacper Tomczyk – Website Design Team (3rd place, alternate)

  • Zachary Huber – Financial Math & Analysis–Open (5th place)

Qualifying students will represent the campus at the BPA State Leadership Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan, March 12–15, where they will compete against top student performers from across the state.
