OSTC-SE Students Compete at SkillsUSA State Conference

Oakland Schools Technical Campus Southeast students competed across multiple industry sectors during the 2026 SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference held throughout April at Schoolcraft College and the Amway Grand Hotel in Grand Rapids.

Five Southeast students competed in Culinary Arts, Restaurant Service and Baking and Pastries competitions during the hospitality sector events held April 11 at Schoolcraft College. Students later competed in transportation, manufacturing and leadership events in Grand Rapids, including Customer Service, Welding, Welding Sculpture, T-Shirt Design and Collision Repair competitions.

Competitors were required to submit resumes, provide technical equipment and supplies and demonstrate professional dress standards while networking with industry professionals and vendors during the conference trade show and participating in opening and closing ceremonies.

Among the top finishers was Brendan Corbett, who earned third place and a bronze medal in Collision Damage Appraisal.

The annual conference provided students with opportunities to demonstrate technical skill, professionalism and career readiness while competing against students from across Michigan.
