OSTC-Southeast Students Advance to National BPA Competition

Students from Oakland Schools Technical Campus Southeast earned multiple top placements at the Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference held March 12-15 in Grand Rapids, with several advancing to the national competition in Nashville, Tennessee, scheduled for May 6-10.

Competing in information technology and programming events, OSTC-Southeast students demonstrated their skills in computer programming, cybersecurity, networking, server administration, and database management.

National qualifiers included Owen Church, who placed fifth in Computer Programming Concepts and sixth in Python Programming; Ethan Hanmer, who placed third and fifth in Computer Security and sixth in Information Technology Concepts; Tristan Alejandro Madarang, who placed fifth in Computer Security; and Jesse Perreca, who placed fifth in Server Administration Using Microsoft.

Alternates included Ethan Hanmer, ninth in Device Configuration and Troubleshooting; Sion Dawson, ninth in Java Programming; and Owen Church, ninth in SQL Database Fundamentals.

The conference challenged students to apply technical knowledge in rigorous, industry-aligned competitions while strengthening career-ready skills. OSTC-Southeast congratulated all participating students and looks forward to cheering on its national qualifiers this spring.
