OSTC Southeast Students Host Second Successful Blood Drive
Health science students from the Future Leaders of Healthcare (FLOH) group at Oakland Schools Technical Campus Southeast (OSTC-SE) recently hosted their second blood drive of the school year, marking another successful effort in supporting local hospitals. In partnership with Versiti, the event exceeded its initial donation goals, providing a critical supply of life-saving blood for needy patients.
The FLOH group has demonstrated a strong commitment to healthcare service and leadership, organizing two highly impactful blood drives this academic year. The overwhelming support from students and staff played a key role in the initiative's success.
"It was fun to watch how a blood drive was done and understand the full process," said OSTC-SE Health Sciences student Kyleigh Cabral. "This has inspired me to reach out to my high school to use Versiti to impact our community directly. It is such a great way to give back."
Students gain hands-on experience in healthcare leadership, teamwork, and event organization through these events. The success of the blood drives underscores the essential role young leaders play in healthcare and highlights the importance of community involvement in ensuring hospitals have the resources they need.
