OSTC Southeast Students Turn Up the Heat at ACF "Cook Like You Mean It" Competition
On Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025, the kitchens at Dorsey Culinary College in Roseville sizzled with delicious dishes, excitement, nerves, and serious chef energy. The American Culinary Federation’s “Cook Like You Mean It” competition, and Dorsey’s Culinary Arts students showed up ready to shine.
The talented Ms. Navarette, Ms. Wilson, Ms. Rowe, Mr. Freeman, Mr. Saey, Ms. Blaquire, and Ms. Roth all brought their A-game. With knife skills sharp enough to impress Gordon Ramsay and pastry work sweet enough to win over any judge, each competitor literally brought something unique to the table.
As judges made their rounds, tensions were high and frosting was flying. The students presented stunning knife cuts and show-stopping cakes, hoping their hard work would earn a spot on the podium. And it did just that! Ms. Navarette and Ms. Rowe took home the Bronze Medals, while a Silver Medal was awarded to Ms. Wilson and Ms. Blaquire. But wait, there’s more! Ms. Blaquire also holds the honor of being the best in show for a presentation with everyone talking!
The highlights didn’t stop there. The team had a surprise reunion with former OSTC–SE student Ms. Del Pappa, who dropped by to share the amazing news that she’s been racking up two Silver Medals in recent culinary competitions. Her journey from student to rising star is nothing short of inspiring!
The day was packed with pride, passion, and a lot of pastry. The culinary students left the competition not only with medals but with motivation. The culinary world better watch out—these future chefs are just starting.
