The Student Leadership Team at Oakland Schools Technical Campus Southeast (OSTC-SE) recently demonstrated their dedication to supporting veterans by raising more than $500 in a penny war to provide much-needed items.
The funds were used to assemble toiletry bags and purchase hats and gloves for veterans, showcasing the team’s spirit of compassion and collaboration.
On Friday, November 8, the students extended their support by volunteering at the Detroit VA Hospital. They assisted in transporting veterans and participated in the Veterans Day ceremony, allowing them to engage directly with veterans and express their gratitude for their service.
Congresswomen Debbie Dingell and Rashida Tlaib took time to recognize the volunteers’ efforts, posing for a photo with the group to commend their commitment to the community. This recognition highlights these young leaders' positive impact through their service.
